About Me
Tom first became involved in sport through school on the rowing team at the local state comprehensive the Windsor Boys' School. As a junior athlete, Tom achieved great successes within rowing including multiple national titles, an England vest, and 2 wins at Henley Royal Regatta 2017 & 2018, setting full course records on both occasions.
As a result of his success on the junior circuit, Tom was offered a place to study and row (not necessarily in that order!) at Oxford Brookes University, the premier university rowing program in Europe. Further success headed Tom's way, enjoying wins at multiple senior regattas, university titles, and selection for the U23 European Championships where he brought home a bronze medal in the 4+. Academically, Tom graduated achieving a 2:1 with honors with work of his being published in a student academic journal.
Tom then obtained his MSc in Sport and Exercise Psychology from Loughborough University. While studying, Tom was awarded the top grade in his research thesis (a copy of which can be found here). Beyond his academic work, Tom became involved with the student rowing set up at Loughborough and took on a voluntary coaching role for the year culminating in qualifying a quad for Henley Royal Regatta; the first time in 14 years a Loughborough contingent raced the event. Tom currently works as Lead Senior Boys' Coach at Kew House School.
Outside of rowing and sport psychology, Tom is a keen lifter in the gym and frequently enjoys long runs. In fact, Tom recently completed the Lakeland 50, a 50-mile (~80km) trail race in the Lake District with almost 6300m of ascent over the famous Lakeland fells.
